Even the children are trying to tell us that Christmas is jumping the gun.

I went to an appointment with a good friend of mine today. We drove past the mall and a HUGE banner sprawled across the entrance proclaiming,

"PICTURES WITH SANTA NOVEMBER 1st THROUGH CHRISTMAS EVE!"

My attention was drawn to the sound of screaming children. I saw a sour looking woman dragging two small boys into the mall. Both of the boys were screaming their heads off and shedding tears as if they were being pulled into a dentist office full of homework.
That is when it hit me! The kids are trying to tell us all something!
Think about it. We just had Halloween full of scary movies on TV every night for a month. Spooky costumes and decorations. Yard haunters chasing them down the streets. Then, the very next day, they expect the kids to go sit on a strangers lap all dressed up in a costume...... COME ON PEOPLE!

Yes Mr.Claus. We are just as pissed as you are about your Nov 1st appearance.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday that we should all take part in. Give it the time and effort it deserves. It is a family building holiday where we sit back and realize the true blessings in our lives. A holiday that we understand that it is not all bad and we actually have some good things to be thankful for. Most of all, Thanksgiving acts as a buffer between Halloween and Christmas.  How can anybody expect to go from full on blood, bones, and zombies to elves, candy canes, and gingerbread over night.

Celebrate Turkey Day! Decorate the house with orange and yellow leaves, pumpkins, and squash. Dust off the feather turkey centerpiece and let the spirits of Halloween settle down and rest before stuffing Joy and Good Tidings of Cheer down our throats. Wait till November 25th to drag the tree out and then when your done decorating you have great leftovers to eat!

If you will not listen to me... then listen to the children! They know it is WAY too early to start Christmas!

"But Mom! It's Novembeeeeeeeeeeeer!"

"Santa ate all the leftover Halloween candy and his Lap disappeared!"

"MOMMY! HE STOLE THANKSGIVING!"

"Santa is shocked that it is November too!"

"THE TEETH MOMMA! THE TEETH!"

"I'm so confused! I was wearing a devil costume last night and now this!"

"He stole our Halloween Candy!"

"PEPPERMINT! Where is the pumpkin pie spice!"

"Talk to the hand Santa! I want some cranberry sauce!"

"I WANT MY PUMPKIN PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEE!"

"MY HAND! OH GOD HE HAS MY HAND!"

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE IS NO STUFFING?"

"Give us Turkey or we will pretend we are Zombies till Easter!"

"I WANT MY THANKSGIVING!"

  2. Mall Santas have a difficult job! I can't imagine what they put up with. The sound of crying babies and children is not a fun one! I have a cousin who was one of those crying kids. She could not go near a mall Santa or Easter Bunny!

  3. It should be LAW that Santa should only make an appearance AFTER the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

They decorated the malls here a week before Hallowe'en. Talk about a buzzkill to a scary holiday!

  4. ROFL!!! I know--seems like it gets earlier and earlier with each year but this year it was a no holds barred, 1 November-is-now-the-start-of-the Christmas-season. I always liked Christmas celebrations but I'm so tired of the crass commercialism that gets shoved down our throats even BEFORE Halloween gets here. I'm with Mr. Macabre--no Christmas stuff until Santa rolls past Macy's in the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

  6. My boys are always upset that no one decorates for Thanksgiving. They love Thanksgiving. We went to Target and my boys were mad at the Christmas decorations. I think children like Thanksgiving and miss its absence.

  9. I agree wholeheartedly. Though I must admit the costume link never clicked with me. I never would have thought of that. Genius.

  10. I COULD get behind an early Krampus appearance, however...
