Fun in the sun... time for a vacation!

It's Summertime or, as I like to call it, the calm before the Halloween storm! Time to take a vacation. Grab some of your oldest and newest friends, hop into your vehicles, and start a road trip convoy.

Your destination does not have to be anything spectacular. Just lay out and relax with your buddies by the pool!

I'm super busy working on M's big Birthday Party this weeKEnD! Hope you all are finding some fun in the sun.

Children shouldn't play with the dead....

Or among them....
That slides leads to a "dead" end!

Summer deals for Halloween swag and signs of things to come.

M an I found a couple of great Halloween deals at Ye Olde Walmart yesterday.

First, high quality black table cloths for $2.50!

For that price, you can cover every flat surface in your house with them or break them down for materials. Not sure if this is just a local thing, but it is worth a look in your local Walmart's clearance isle for sure.

We also got one of those goofy zombie shirts. You know, the kind you pull up over your head and there is a zombie face under it. For 5 bucks, I could not resist.

With yesterday being the first day of Summer, it was refreshing to find an LTD Commodities Harvest catalog in the mail.

They usually only carry cutesy stuff, and this year they have fewer items than ever but, it still is a great reminder of what is right around the corner.  Here are a few of the items from their website :

Buyer beware as I got burned last year on one of their items *Click here for link*

We were in Tennessee over the weeKEnD and I was happy to see both Micheals and Hobby Lobby stocking the shelves with Fall decor. No Halloween, but Fall items still get me going. This is the earliest I can recall them putting out these things. I hope it is a sign they will stock Halloween sooner too. Sadly,  Hobby Lobby also had several isles of Christmas out so my theory of Christmas year round may come to pass.

I am off to work on the yard and prepare for M's Birthday Party next Saturday. Unfortunately, I am battling a couple of kidney stones which is greatly inhibiting both my physical and creative prowess currently. We also have a work crew tearing up our front street, cutting our water lines, and being overly loud, which contributes to the overall inability to get things done.
As for the kidney stones, I fear they are winning in a bad way, but for the work crew.... if I can only find a place to hide the bodies where the other workers won't keep finding them......

Happy First Day of Summer!

I do love the summer months. Cookouts, fishing, yard games......building Halloween props. To me, Summer has always been the herald to Autumn. Time to start planning out those Halloween projects. The Halloween Season is just around the corner!

Hope all the fathers out there have a wonderful day full of breakfast in bed, bad neckties, and (if you are super lucky) a little Halloween goodness.

Fiendish Furniture and Horrific Home Decor.

When you ask a normal person what they would do if they won the lotto, they will answer, "Pay off debt, buy a new house, share it with family and friends". If you ask a Halloween nut like me, my answer is, "Pay off previous years of Halloween debt, buy a haunted house and stock it with ghastly furniture, invite family and friends over and share the wealth by creeping them out".  For those of you that have a similar mindset, here are some ideas for decorating your new dream nightmare home.

Enter my parlor said the spider to the fly.

It's not clean till it's skull brush clean!

What a perfect place to display your collection of decapitated heads.

This is not your grandmother's rocking chair. If it is, I salute you!

This is also how Batman keeps the Bat cave cool.

I have called this meeting to ask you, "Where can we find more creepy furniture"?

This is an actual table. I would love to have it.

What I would not give to have this in my garden.

Tim Burton?

Stockade Headboard. Leather clad dominatrix not included.

RIP Ray Bradbury.

Famous author, Ray Bradbury, has passed. While he was famous for a multitude of excellent works of literature and media, the one that stands out to me is "The Halloween Tree". Ray was able to inspire a nation of Halloween lovers and has been reciprocated with dedications to that great Halloween work for years. Ray's vision and understanding of us Autumn people has fueled my imagination for years. I even adopted the name of my blog from the movie, "Something Wicked This Way Comes". Thank you Ray for making my childhood all the brighter with your tall tales, glowing Jack-o-lanterns, and your inspiration in that one book I will never forget.
