It's beginning to look a lot like CREEPMAS!

I'm a CREEP for The 13 Days of CREEPMAS

It's that time again. We at the wicKED woods will be participating in this annual grand event!

What is Creepmas? I am glad you asked! Here is the official excerpt from the blog:

CREEPMAS is a good-natured push back at Retail America for trying to force Christmas down our throats as early as July. Something has gone seriously wrong with how holidays are marketed to us in the last 5 years. When you go to a major retail store in mid-October only to find they've gotten rid of all their Halloween merchandise in favor of snowmen & Santas, well, it's time to take action!
Something as utterly ridiculous as Christmas trees in August deserves an equally ridiculous response!
CREEPMAS is for those Halloween lovers and Monster Kids who want to say "enough is enough" - if they're going to put their Christmas into our Halloween, then let's put our Halloween into their Christmas! Tim Burton showed us that it can be done with marvelous results, and we're definitely following his lead.
The 13 Days of Creepmas is an online Celebration of Spookiness from December 1 - 13. The idea is to bring a macabre twist to Christmas and the holidays. Get creative and post it on your blog - share your twisted yule visions with the world!
Now bear in mind - this is for FUN. We're not out to ruin other peoples' holidays and sabotage/vandalism are NOT what we're promoting. Leave the neighbors' nativity scene alone. The 13 Days of Creepmas is about how you decorate yourself, your home and/or your life to let the world know that you are a CREEP! Wear it loud, wear it proud!
And Thanksgiving? Sorry, you turkey - you're on your own.

So head on over to the blog at THIS LINK and see how you can participate! Merry Creepmas!

Turkyday is coming and I am thankful.

Things are settling down, somewhat. I am finally on a normal schedule at work. After 3 months of 6 day work weeks with constant over time, I have time to devote to my life. Just in time for the Holidays.

The move is 90% complete. Still have to get my 75 gallon fish tank over and we have some junk in cabinets, storage building etc. We have the task of getting the old home ready to sell so we can get out of paying for 2 mortgages, 2 electric bills and 2 water bills. I am just thankful we have good job that allow us the means to live this way for a while.

Still lots of boxes everywhere. Still lots of cleaning that needs to go on with the new house. Just have to make time to do it.

The cats are finally back to normal in their new home. I think it was a bit intimidating for them at first and the sheer size of the house scared them. They seem to enjoy it now.

Gizmo likes to hunt for ghosts in the attic. Wonder if he ever finds any?

I even feel like I can rest and enjoy the new house from time to time...just not for very long.

Hope everybody is gearing up for a big Turkey Day with Family and Friends!

Flashback Friday (First Shots of Wicked Woods This Year)

Here are a few shots of The Wicked Woods right after we put it up in September. I may have posted a few of these, but the camera settings picked up the lighting perfectly.

Christmas seriously...get in line.

I remember picking up some american flags for M's Birthday/4th of July party back at the end of June. Sure enough...Christmas Decorations were peeking at me on a back wall isle.

Halloween night, I was out taking down some of the more delicate and expensive items for storage. I noticed my rather redneck neighbors just down the street also taking their little Halloween display down. I thought I was a trend setter until I noticed that one of them was stringing a bright multi-colored string of Christmas lights....11 PM HALLOWEEN NIGHT! Seriously?

It's like we don't give a rats ass about Thanksgiving any more...are we thankless? Are we in such a hurry to start asking people to buy us stuff that we look over the holiday that requests we give thanks for what we have...not what we want? Major retailers are even making their employees work on Thanksgiving to start the Christmas shopping season early.  You know who to blame? Us, the consumer. As long as we buy what they sell, they will sell. My Dad always said, "If a man charges 100 dollars for a Bologna sandwich...he will continue to charge that as long as somebody will pay it".

I love Christmas. Heck I love all Holidays as a way to celebrate life, but I am boycotting Christmas....ALL Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving.

Really looking forward to CREEPMAS this year.

In my world, all Holidays get a turn....How about yours?

11/12/13 was a day to remember.

Just a quick update on life in general as the blog and Facebook have been sorely lacking since we started.

First, the rumors of my death are exaggerated, although it feels pretty close to the truth. Working full time jobs then coming back to work at least 8 hours on moving an unpacking is enough to kill you. We are 75% moved (no where near that unpacked and set up. The computer is set up and running, most of the TV's (except the new 65' flat screen which is still in the box). Halloween is all put up and now Christmas is too (3 truck loads of Christmas so I don't feel to bad about the 7 it took for Halloween.

They are still shooting the movie either directly in front of my house or in front of my mother's down the street. They shoot late into the night and it lights up the mountains till the trees look white.

view from the back deck.

It's hard rubbing elbows with movie stars...ahh, but we will survive somehow.

One of the best things about 11/12/13 was having The Wicked Woods Cemetery featured on PUMPKINROT!

Always one of the highest honors imaginable for a Haunter!

We are busy trying to finish the old house for market, and get the new one unpacked so we can celebrate TURKEY DAY! Hope you all are having a wicKED time!

Thank you to those who served!

Thank you to all the Veterans out there that make this land free and proud! We could not be here without your sacrifices and we honor that!

The Wicked Woods wishes all Veterans a Happy Veterans Day!

5 truck loads and 2 car loads later....

And we are officially DONE moving Halloween into the new home. It's all safe and sound in the attic, basement, and out building of our new home where it will sleep peacefully until awakened for next years festivities.

We got some strange looks, especially since we now live directly across from a church...I guess that don't find humor in carrying coffins into an out building or M dancing with a skeleton up the steps.

Slim is ready to go to the new house. He is an actual medical skeleton and weighs a TON! So he gets to sit up front.

He is still wearing the shower cap from when he was hiding in the shower during the Halloween party. At least he can hold some stuff while I drive.

FYI, the trunk on M's car can hold 8 skeletons quite comfortably.

The funniest thing to happen so far was when I was moving some Halloween stuff downstairs. The location manager over the movie being filmed knocked on the door and asked that I make sure I was unloading my "things" in the back yard away from the shoot....Guess they did not want to see me carrying my life size Grim Reaper prop around the front of the house.... I think it would make the movie so much more interesting... Oh well! More moving in the morning!
