Breakfast of Halloween Champions

Tomorrow marks the start of the Countdown To Halloween! I am going to try to hold down a full time 55+hours a week job, decorate the house for Halloween, finish upteen hundred projects, plan and throw the biggest Halloween party yet, AND post something interesting every day in October till the big day! For this, I need THE BREAKFAST OF HALLOWEEN CHAMPIONS!

This is not my actual breakfast, this was from this past Saturday. M made me a huge breakfast to start Halloween Decorating off right. Not sure if even M's breakfast will get me through this in one piece!

On a side note, an unhealthy friendship has developed between by dapper posable skeleton and Gizmo.

I had originally bought the skele to stand out in the grave yard, but I have not had the heart to move him since Gizmo likes him so much. He actually spends a great amount of time putting his head under the skeles hands and forcing him to scratch his head.

Not sure he will like the idea of his buddy standing outside in the rain......

First looks at Wicked Woods Cemetery 2014

Season swap is done and we have most of the outdoor decorations up. Of course I will add, tweak, and change things right up until the last minute on Halloween! We still have a couple of major projects to finish for visible outdoor decor, but for now, we are focusing on decorating inside and preparing for the Annual wicKED weeKEnD Halloween party!

I took everyone's advise and wrapped the haunt all the way around with the emphasis on the side door with the sidewalk.
The mourning skeleton make another appearance.

Just hanging out waiting for Halloween.

The gravedigger has started early this year. I think I need to put a green light in the basement window behind him....maybe red.. I dunno.

I think I may need another green light or two around the sidewalk.

Somebody is waiting.

There is a very cool fire and ice light behind him. Looks like the upstairs is on fire.

Good old Grimmace is guarding the trash cans. He was also absolutely crawling alive with spiders when I got him out.

I feel like this guy after a 3 day working weekend of about 12 hours a day.

I think I need to line the steps with pumpkins...or would that attract TOTS to come up to the wrong door...hmmm.

Bag Pipes, Thumbs up, and Wind Ghosts.

We literally put in 12 hours straight on the Halloween decor. We are now about 85% complete and it was the oddest, but most gratifying season swap ever.

Our little town of Big Stone Gap,  is home to a Celtic Festival.

So today while we were dragging coffins and skeletons out into the yard, a parade of bagpipers marched by....For the rest of the day, I decorated to celtic flutes and bagpipes.. Odd... but I loved it!

Due to the festival, we had a BUNCH of out of towners in the area. I wish I had kept count of all the people the drove by and gave us the "thumbs up" or commented how much they loved what we were doing. It was truly gratifying to hear all the people come by and say they loved what we were doing. Even the preacher of the church we live next door to commented it was 'just amazing!". One woman took a few pictures and said to me, "I get it...this is your art....this is awesome!" I guess it is my art, but we have so much to do! I need to run out and get some extension cords, fix a broken Jason and Mike Myers prop, and get my fire and ice lights hooked up. There are so many other projects we are working on, it is down right maddening.

One thing I am proud of this year is our wind ghosts.. Just love them at the new house! Especially the one flying over the house!

More to come!

Season Swap at 50% completion and climbing!

Part 1 of my annual Season Swap went off without a hitch. The weather was great! I even took the day off to spend all day working (crazy huh?)

I took down all the happy, grinning suns and melodious wind chimes. Planted potted plants for winter and packed away anything that has to do with warm weather and sunny days. I even managed to get out all the outdoor Halloween decor, including several miles of extension cords, and have it ready to go early Saturday Morning! Last week I had a couple of electricians come over and put in some NEW high end outdoor receptacles.

Now it is time to transfer this

Into something more wicKED like this!

I worry that it will take me far into Sunday to get just the minimal outdoor portions done due to this being completely uncharted territory for me. Time to put the "what if's" aside and hit the "what next" button!

I am also proud to say I have mowed for the last time in 2014.....well, I had a little help.

So much fun it glows!

I had posted some pictures of our pool table UV Reactive/Glow in the dark Mod. Cannot wait to play this during the Halloween party. The whole basement is going to be black lights!

Creepy Nature

We are lucky enough to have 4 LARGE yellow tulip Poplar trees on the property. They turn a beautiful yellow (almost like a sugar maple) in fall and have yellow/orange flowers in spring. After the flowers fall, they leave a cone that eventually turns into these creepy claws of death!

Finally Fall!

The Season is here!!! Days of long shadows and diffused sunlight.Brightly colored trees and all shapes of pumpkins. Shortening days and chilly nights. Bonfires and ghost stories.Morning mist and crunch of leaves underfoot. Scary movies and apple cider! I am an Autumn person and I am finally in my element!
