Rain ,rain go away, come again some other October! (Day 1 Countdown to Halloween)

Welcome to day 1 of the Countdown to Halloween! Come back every day as I promise to post something Halloweeny. It may not be as in depth as it was last year, but I will come up with some suitable tidbits to keep you interested!
It went for nearly 4 weeks in September without a rain shower lasting longer than 10 minutes. Since September 25th (the day I took a 4 day weekend to put up Halloween) it has rained every single day. Now, it has turned into a constant downpour with no end in sight for at least the next week. I have been unable to work much in the Cemetery and have been unable to finish tweaking the lights but I am keeping busy with other mini indoor projects. I was hoping to have some great shots of the cemetery and the house, but for day 1 of the countdown, you will have to settle for what I could take from my front porch....I really hope that Mother nature gets it out of her system now and we FINALLY have a dry Halloween.

It's like he is asking "Why so much rain? WHY!?"

I left this over exposed so you could see the rain coming down!

This wind ghost usually hangs high enough to cover the scarecrows face. He is so water logged he is almost touching the ground.

I agree Mourning Skeleton...death and rain suck!

Zombies don't really have an opinion on the rain.

Rain Rain go away...come again another Halloween Season.

Today marks our annual "Season Swap" day where we usually do the last mowing of the year, put up all the bright summer decorations and drag out the Cemetery for the official start of the Wicked Woods Haunt season. It has been absolutely beautiful weather for the last 3 weeks. I even took off time from work so I have Friday through Monday to work at my own pace. Then BAM! Rain! Mother Nature hates Halloween!!!

Usually Season Swap day is really nice and it rains on Halloween (Past 4 years counting). Maybe this year it has swapped out. I hope. Oh Well, I will just hope for a long enough break in the rain to get all the props and tombstones out and run the lights (my biggest fear of dealing with rain is electricity).

As for the final mow of the season...the wife is telling me not to mow...She thinks the unkempt look of the grounds coupled with the already impressive collection of fallen leaves is perfect for our "look". I will follow her advise and see where this leads ;)

Time to work on projects till Mother Nature settles down!

Happy (hopefully dry) Halloween from Something wicKED this way comes...

Unfortunately, it looks like rain off and on all day and 100% chance tonight with severe thunderstorms and winds!

Wicked Woods will be running a minimal haunt tonight with none of the animated props due to possibly damaging them. I had hoped our last Halloween in this neck of the Woods would go out with a bang, but maybe if I underwhelm this year, it will seem SO much bigger next!

Thanks for following our wicKED adventures year round. I hope you will continue to stop by and see how things develop in the new haunt!

Since today is going to rain me out, for the most part, enjoy this rainy Halloween tribute!

Rainy Autumn Day Perspective.

Today is your typical rainy fall day, except for the unseasonably warm temps. I spent the majority of the morning drinking too much coffee and trying to find a legitimate publisher. So far, I have failed to find one that will take me serious, or does not want me to foot the bill, so I will be going a bit longer as an unpublished author.
To brighten my spirits, I started working on one of my Creepmas projects. I am almost done and pretty pleased with it thus far. That, and the view from my front porch, set me in a much better mood.

During the day, these beautiful Bradford Pears do the perfect job of hiding the one house in our neighborhood that decided to go full Clark Griswold on Christmas decorating on November 1st.

It would appear we have a traitors element in the wicKED household. Some soul that seeks to spread the Christmas Cheer before we have had our Pumpkin Pie and Turkey Gravy. I am not going to make any accusations yet, but here before you is proof of this holiday insurrection!

Miranda's Christmas Cactus is in full bloom! I assure you I will investigate this mutinous behavior at once and bring whomever is responsible to justice!
