Mid Summers Halloween projects

We find ourselves in a state of flux. We are under contract to move to a MUCH bigger house with the perfect yard to haunt, but...the closing date could be anywhere from Sept 30th to Dec 30th. So we run the constant stress of "should we decorate?" We have decided to go on as usual and just anticipate the moving to come after Halloween. 

My office is a constant mash of Halloween items that I use for both inspiration and for sentimentality. This is the view over my shoulder from my computer desk.

M had been planning some projects this year all on her own. She is going to be mass producing PVC candles to start with.

Her inspirational urges strike even late into the night.

I am working on a few projects myself trying to keep in mind that a move could happen at any given moment. So far I have one creature I am building around a toy motor. My biggest fear is the motor will give out before Halloween and it is at the heart of the build and cannot be replaced. Here is a sneak peek at what I am working on...any guesses?

I can't wait

On this day in 1969, Man walks on the Moon....Werewolves rejoice!

That's right kiddies, on July 20th 1969, Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the moon.

It must be a big holiday among werewolves.

The Wicked Woods lashes out!

We are currently in the process of trying to buy our dream house that has over 3 times the room we do now. No sooner had I signed the contract to put our current home on the market when the Wicked Woods made it's move. In the bright shinning daylight with out a wisp of wind, one of the trees in the backyard snapped in half!

Now I feel like I have to look over my shoulder whenever I am in the yard near the woods....Not only do I hope everything goes right and we get the new house...I hope we live to actually move in it! 

Guess what....

I have been really working on photo techniques and hopefully this year I can produce some pretty interesting original works. As always, critiques and suggestions are encouraged and welcomed.

For many of us, the haunting season is starting. While the heat pours down, we are busy tinkering away in sheds, workshops, and basements. Hammering out the most inexpensive but creepiest props known to man. I have been working on several projects since May, but there is a good possibility that we will be moving into our dream home right around Halloween. No matter what the timing, we will have a yardhaunt and the annual party...it just may mean extra work on top of extra work. Time will tell.. as for now, I plan on pushing forward as usual.

Getting into the spirit of things....literally!

M and I were fooling around in the back yard with my new low light DSLR set up. We were playing with aperture and shutter speed so we decided to make some ghosts and willo-wisp with several kinds of flashlights. 

Just learning to play with the new camera so I can take awesome Halloween pictures this year!

As a bonus. My camera went off by accident during M's Bday celebration. Check out the evil chick on TV...lol

There's something lurking in the Backwoods....

For me, the first sign that Halloween is truly around the corner is seeing the local haunts recruiting actors and gearing up there haunts. Backwoods has already released this years theme..

My first wicKED gift of the season!

A couple of our good friends brought me a gift along with M's Birthday presents over the weeKEnD. Huge purple vials with screw on tops and bases to sit on. These were .59 cents each at a local store! The possibilities are endless, but I am thinking one of the following:

1. Use them as a shotglass for Purple People Eater drinks (Grape juice, Redbull, Grape Vodka)
2. Run tubing and glowing liquids in them to make a nice mad scientist lab bank.
3. Store gross creatures and specimens in them and add them to the apothecary.  

Just trying to show you how large they are.

They all have tight fitting screw tops as well.

If you turn it upside down in it's holder.......it just makes me nervous!

Mischievous Monday

Let's face it....Mondays suck! Especially if you are like me and coming off an extended holiday weekend! So to make the best of it, enjoy these three hilarious horrors. The first is a great little remix of a popular song call "I'm zombie and I know it", the second is a trailer for "Mrs Doubtfire...the horror story", and last, but not least, is a heart warming video of a guy pranking his wife right into a divorce court and/or a heart attack... Today we celebrate M's Birthday officially! We are having a friends and family over for some grilling and a massive desert buffet....oh and lots of presents! In the mean time, enjoy these firework photos I took with my new DSLR. This was my first excursion into night photography and I learned a lot for the upcoming Halloween season! Hope this knowledge translates well with Halloween decor!

 

 

 

Let's hope all this attention does not go to M's head!
