Thirsty Thursday {Countdown to Halloween Day 29}

Our last thirsty Thursday gives us some last minute creepy cocktails for the big day Saturday!

THE WALKING DEAD

This is a simple twist on a classic Negroni, but rather than gin, we're swapping in a slightly aged tequila. The flavor is balanced, with a some woody notes, which pairs well with the bittersweet Campari. Topping it off with a gummy brain garnish brings it all together.

Ingredients:
1 oz Reposado Tequila (your preferred label)
1 oz Campari
1 oz Carpano Antica Vermouth
gummy brains to garnish (optional)
ice

Recipe:
1. Place all ingredients (aside from garnish) into a mixing glass.
2. Stir 30-40 times.
3. Strain into a cocktail glass (up or over ice), garnish with brains

Zombie Shooter

Give your friends a fright this Halloween with a Zombie Shooter, where a combination of booze and lime juice create a drinkable brain.

Ingredients

▢1 1/4 ounce vodka (chilled)
▢1/8 ounce lime juice
▢3/4 ounce Bailey's Irish Cream

Instructions
For best results, store vodka in freezer. Combine vodka and lime juice in a shaker with ice and shake until cold, about 20 seconds. Strain into a shot glass.
Dip a straw into the Bailey's and put your finger over the end to create suction. Allow one drip at a time to fall into the vodka and lime juice mixture. Then. place the end of the straw into the shot glass and release your finger just enough to allow a strand of Bailey's to come out. Alternate drips with submerged strands until you have something that resembles a brain.
Shoot it!

 Oogie Boogie

Apple flavors, a hint of sour, lemon-lime fizz, and candy worms…of course!

This Oogie Boogie Halloween cocktail is definitely a winner to serve to the guests at your next spooky gathering!

1.25 ounces Green Apple Vodka
1.25 ounces Sour Mix
Lemon-Lime Soda
Black Rimming Sugar
Candy Worms

Begin by rimming your martini glasses with black sugar. (I picked my black sugar up at World Market and those fun cocktail napkins too! How great are they?!)

First, flip your glass upside down and dip into a shallow bowl filled with water, or use a lemon or lime wedge to rim the edge of the glass.

Pour your rimming sugar onto a plate.

Again with your glass upside down, dip your wet glass rim into the rimming sugar on the plate. Flip your glass back around and you have a very cool, and perfectly ghoulish, cocktail rim. Pretty easy, right?

Next, add ice, vodka, and sour mix to a shaker.

Shake and then strain into the sugar rimmed martini glass.

Top with sprite and garnish with candy worms.

THE SLEEPY HOLLOW

½ ounce absinthe
2 ounces mezcal
1 oz st. elizabeth allspice dram
2 dashes angostura bitters
rosemary sprig, for garnish

Pour absinthe into a rocks glass; swirl to coat, and discard liqueur.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add mezcal, st. elizabeth, and 2 dashes of bitters. Strain cocktail into a glass over ice. Light rosemary with a lighter or culinary torch until smoking and place it in the glass. Serve immediately.
